Join us for an enchanting performance by tenor Anthony Ciaramitaro
Tenor Anthony Ciaramitaro has drawn attention for his Italianate sound and compelling stage
presence. A recent winner of Plácido Domingo’s Operalia Competition, Mr. Ciaramitaro is an alumnus
of Palm Beach Opera’s Bailey Apprentice Artist Program, and he returns to PBO this season as Fenton
in Falstaff. He recently made his Metropolitan Opera debut as Il Messaggero in Aida. This season has
also included appearances with LA Opera as Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor and with New York City
Opera as Giorgio in the world premiere of Ricky Ian Gordon’s The Garden of the Finzi-Continis. Later
this season, he returns to LA Opera as Cassio in Otello.
Mr. Ciaramitaro is a former Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist at LA Opera, where he performed Il
Messaggero in Aida, Heinrich der Schreiber in Tannhäuser, Ruiz in Il trovatore, and Lord Cecil
in Roberto Devereux. As a member of San Francisco Opera’s Merola Program, Mr. Ciaramitaro
performed Don Ramiro in La cenerentola. He was also an inaugural member of the Renée Fleming
Fellowship at the Aspen Musical Festival, making his debut as Tamino in Die Zauberflöte. In previous
seasons, he appeared with Arizona Opera in the roles of Count Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia and
the Governor/Vanderdendur in Candide, and he also performed as a resident artist with Santa Fe
Opera, Chautauqua Opera, and Wolf Trap Opera.
In competition, Mr. Ciaramitaro has won the CulturArte Prize at Operalia 2022, 2nd prize at the 2022
Butler Opera International Vocal Competition, 3rd prize in the 2022 Loren L. Zachary National Vocal
Competition, 2nd prize in the 2021 Palm Springs Opera Guild Vocal Competition, and 3rd prize in the
2021 Vero Beach Opera Rising Stars Competition. He is a finalist in the 59th Tenor Viñas Vocal
Competition in Barcelona.
